A Mobile Application Testing Community
Hello ,
I have one doubt regarding blackberry UI, i am testing one BB apps, which is related BI (graphs and charts ). ok in this apps , in landscape mode > Color indicator description is displayed properly ( i.e. full name) for some charts e.g. [red color ] Businessovermonths.
But in portrait mode it is not displayed properly, it is displayed as e.g Businessoverm....
Now when i raised the issue/ defect for the same , developer told me that it's know issue its' becouse of device size (we used Curve 8520 model)
As end user i don't know what is meaning of businessoverm..... (meaning of m.....)???

According to me.........it'll not be an issue...........it'll occur when developer has no space to display whole string then they display like that...........
means they decide the specific space to display the string but if it is long then it'll be displayed like Businessoverm....
plz correct me if i m wrong.........

1. if font size is too big u can reduce some px
2. Else display in two lines ( UI should not look bad )
3. Else try to give tool tip (tool tip may decrease performance as per my developer )
As per me displaying ellipse is not a bad idea. :) , If the space is less we always suggest the developer to display ellipse at the end

The best way is to see how the other applications ( Check the default applications) handle the similar issues. I guess it would show a similar behaviour due to limited screen size which is a challenge for all mobile application. One solution can be to write the text in limited text (short forms) which is still understandable.

I am also want to go with Ashish's point, Check the same issue with native applications as well as install free apps having too many characters and verify it with your app. This is not an issue, this is device specific feature don't get confused.
Thanks,
