Announcement->Mobile Apps Auotmation Tools:-Exploration,Reviews &Forming a Team

Hello Friends,

I was just thinking to have an exploration activity for various Mobile automation tools one by one and then sharing their reviews/learning here on Mobile QA Zone.For this we all can work as a team,a common task or activity will be taken and then we can just initiate this process.We can also talk to tool vendors for providing suitable help and demo if required.WHAT DO YOU SAY?

For now I am keeping following tools on our agenda-

Robotium(Android)
Fonemonkey(Iphone)

Later we can take up-

Meux-QTP
TestQuest
Deviceanywhere automation
Perfectomobile automation
See Test
Tplan Robot
Sikuli
Cucumber

You can also add the tool that you want.We can take it further step by step.

I think as a Team we have better opportunity to learn.By this we can-

Learn Mobile Automation Testing
As a team we can come up with better analysis of tools
Exchange the necessary material for mobile test automation
We can talk to automation tool vendors on behalf of Mobile QA Zone to have demo about their so that we can get initial Idea about automation.
This is an initiative.So we can learn from our experiences and experiments.
We can learn scripting languages required for automation.
Monthly/weekly meetup via Skype so that we can explore opportunities and our learning.
No fees/No cost, just a small learning effort.

LET me know if any one interested.We can move further on this.Let it be if it becomes a team of 2 or 20 :) :) It(count)really doesn't matter.

There is a tool called Monkey Talk ( upgrade version of Fone Monkey) from Gorilla Logic, easy to use just need scripting knowledge, with this tool we can test Android and iPhone applications,

If Any body knows already regarding this tool and using it, kindly post scripting stuff,

im a manual mobile app tester, I'm interested in learning automation tool and scripting,

is it really worth to go for automation for mobile apps? my views on the same...

mobile apps would/should be confined and limited in size with regards to content/modules/features, they need to be as small as possible
life cycle of a mobile app is vry limited - as per the industry standards - a mobile has to be developed/tested/submitted in app stores in a span of 3 months - is it worth to spend efforts in automation for such a minimal time frame?
we can expect the app for testing may be for around 5-8 cycles of testing.
dynamic and constant changes which results in modifying the scripts frequently and consistentl

i am interested/curious in knowing, frankly how many comp are using and implementing automation tools for automating the mobile testing..

please do share ur inputs/comments/exp on the same.
