  • Software testing services works with the rest APIs handling four HTTP methods i.e. POST, PUT, GET and DELETE

Out of these, POST method is to add a record to a collection or list. PUT is idempotent but its responses are not cacheable.

PUT method is to update a record which is already part of the collection .POST is not idempotent however its responses are cacheable.

The fundamental difference between the two is reflected in the different meaning of the Request-URI used in software testing services.

The URI in a POST Http request identifies the resource that will handle the enclosed entity whereas the URI in a PUT Http request identifies the entity enclosed with the request
for example, Post is like uploading a file on the server and Put is like updating or replacing an existing record on the server.
