“Because IPv6 support is so critical to ensuring your applications work across the world for every customer, we are making it an AppStore submission requirement, starting with iOS 9.”  With those words, Sebastien Marineau, Apple’s VP of Core OS, gave a huge boost to IPv6 developer support in Apple’s WWDC Platform State Of The Union (SOTU) address yesterday. As this is now mandatory and one of the App Submission criteria, if anyone is having Idea or developed the strategy to deal with this?

  • I don't think so does it impact on app.

  • Hi Anurag,

Since IPv6 introduces a completely new way of addressing endpoints in a network, Hence QA should focus on below items:

    1. Applications using protocols such as HTTP and SIP that embed IP addresses must be thoroughly tested since they will be impacted by IPv6. •

    2. Interoperability testing is needed to ensure that new and existing applications and services can support both IP versions and all the numerous permutations.

    3. Networking infrastructure, such as security gateways and deep packet inspection systems, must be tested for security and resilience to ensure attacks over IPv6 are detected and handled.

    4. Back-end databases and other systems that allow networks to be managed and provisioned must be updated to handle IPv6 addresses. It is critical to test these systems prior to the first IPv6-related change to the live network.
