  • Hi Anurag,

thanks for providing the information. just have one question..if we are using this widget, it itself consumer some battery during testing the application. how much it affects the testing parameters?

  • Hi Sangram,

You can use "Android Assistant" application to test battery consumed by the application. This application can help you in verifying battery consumed by the application. However this data remains in the form of % battery consumed by the application. You can also use "Battery monitor widget". In this app you can use get some data in the form of mA. Like battery being consumed in mA. However this data is not application specific.

Please make sure following this before you proceed:-

    1. Kill all the apps running in the android device(You can use any task killer app)
    2. Now launch your app
    3. Measure the battery consumption by your app
    4. Now In the regular intervals of 30 mins to 1 Hr, keep on monitoring the battery consumed by your app

There may be two scenarios in this case as well:-

    • Test when application is idle (or it is in background and some data is being exchanged)
    • Test when user is extensively using the application for 5-6 hours.Keep on capturing battery related data in equal intervals.

Hope it will help  up to some extent. However though we have explored such tools, but still we are waiting for some better tool where we can get exact info what we are looking for.

    Thanks,

    Anurag
